It is important to understand the unique needs of research labs to provide the best service possible. Whether it is for clinical trials as needed for FDA approval or environmental testing, NPPN provides mobile phlebotomy services for clinical research labs doing human testing.
COVID-19 is an evolving, rapidly changing situation. The pandemic has affected all aspects of medicine, industry, and research. Until more is known about how COVID-19 spreads, the CDC and OSHA recommend using a combination of standard precautions, contact precautions, airborne precautions, and eye protection (e.g., goggles or face shields) to protect laboratory workers with exposure to the virus.
Any research facilities conducting clinical studies have these added challenges of safety and protection.
NPPN follows strict guidelines in this emerging, rapidly evolving pandemic for collection and delivery of laboratory testing. We work with many nationally known research labs that excel in providing professional and patient friendly service when collecting specimens. Our mobile medical specimen collection and delivery solutions make getting lab work both easy and safe.
Frequently Asked Questions
We provide mobile in-home specimen collection and delivery services. We are not a lab and we do not conduct any lab testing or send specimens to a preferred lab. We collect the specimens required, according to the lab order written by your practitioner (your doctor or other authorized diagnostics prescriber), then we deliver those specimens to whatever lab they need to go to.
YES! As a healthcare consumer, you have the right to choose whichever lab you want to perform the tests that your practitioner has ordered for you. However, keep in mind that if you want to have the testing covered by your insurance plan, you may still need to have the testing performed by a lab that is in-network with your insurance provider.
Usually, the answer is NO. Most states require most diagnostic testing to be ordered by an authorized prescriber (a physician, nurse practitioner, chiropractor, dentist, etc.). However, there are some options if you want to access lab testing on your own. There are some diagnostics reseller companies (online lab) that offer direct to consumer testing services, but the results still need to be interpreted by an authorized practitioner before you get the results. This is typically done through a telemedicine (online video conference) appointment you will have with a practitioner affiliated with the online lab company.
YES! We are very familiar with a vast array of diagnostic lab kits and specialty testing services. Our technician will collect the specimens, process them according to the kit instructions, package and drop off the lab kit to the designated shipping carrier (usually FedEx, UPS, USPS).
We work with many insurance plans, including managed care plans. However, we cannot bill Medicare or Medicaid directly. For anyone who is not a covered member of a participating health plan, we can provide an insurance claim form so you can get reimbursement according to your plan’s coverage options. However, be aware that in most cases you must be limited mobility, home bound, or have some other medical reason necessitating coverage for in-home care services, in order to receive
coverage or reimbursement for these services.
There is a one-time fee on a per draw basis. The fee is usually no more than $99.
We have technicians in all of the major metropolitan areas in the United States. If you are not sure if you live in an area where we have coverage, please feel free to reach out to our operations support team. We are happy to help.
YES! If you are a caregiver, family member or other party responsible for the patient’s care, you can schedule service on behalf of the patient.
Usually you will need to provide us a copy of the lab order(s), and a copy of your insurance information so the lab will bill your insurance for the testing.
